RescueShift began as one first responder's schedule, built for my brother, and grew into the platform fire, EMS, ED, and dispatch teams now run their coverage on.
It started with one firefighter, my brother.
When he moved to shift work, our lives ran on two group chats that never matched: one with his family, one with his station family. Figuring out when he was actually working meant scrolling both, second-guessing a whiteboard at the station and a paper rotation nobody fully trusted. Planning something as ordinary as a family dinner turned into a guessing game, and you could see it wearing on him. Covering a shift was worse. A dozen texts and a wall of sticky notes for trades and open shifts, all of it riding on the hope that the right person saw the message in time.
I built the first version of RescueShift to fix our problem, so his family could finally see when he worked, and so picking up a shift didn't take a phone tree. It worked for one crew. Then the crews around his started asking for it too.
Since then it has grown from a schedule for one person into a platform whole departments run on: rotations, sign-up boards, shift trades, coverage, and a station display that retires the whiteboard on the wall for good. The goal hasn't changed since day one. Give the people who always show up a schedule they can count on.
Why we build it
A schedule the crew trusts means fewer uncovered shifts, fewer trucks running short, and fewer missed dinners. That is the whole job.

The crew comes first
Every feature earns its place by making a shift easier to cover or a schedule easier to trust. If it does not help the people on the truck, it does not ship.
